As pinays, as people of color, as people who find themselves at multiple intersections, what does sanctuary look like to you? -

OUR ROOTS: Pinay Liminality started when a group of Pinays sat in the front row of their Filipina Literature class taught by Barbara Jane Reyes. Conversations started in the classroom, continued for hours in our school's cafeteria, and lives on in our day-to-day interactions. Now, through this archive. -
Pinay Liminality is an act of Pinayism. It is an act of preservation. It is an act of love.
-
Holla to the homies: Monika, Czarina, Clarisse, Bettina, and Hope- the core of this project.
-
This project is organized by Christine, a fellow pin@y.
Bay Area Pinay, Monika, weighing in on language and identity. "I wish [my parents] would be more comfortable with me being Filipino and not so focused on being American, so American that it hurts."
Daughters, where are your knives. Read every word of prayer, psalm, and ode in Barbara Jane Reyes' latest book, Invocation for Daughters. This one is for us. #allpinayeverything
-
Bay Area peeps, pick this peminista read up at Arkipelago, pick it up at City Lights. Everyone else, https://www.amazon.com/Invocation-Daughters-City-Lights-Spotlight/dp/0872867471.
What do you do to honor your loved ones? If you could say something to someone who has passed away, what would you say?
-
Take time to read pinay poet Janice Sapigao's latest collection of poems, "like a solid to a shadow". Her words are heavy, as she writes about grief, absence, and the limitations of language.
-
Questions are from Kimberley Arteche's (@kimbr) installation honoring @janicesap and her father at the release of Janice's latest book.
